The hardest thing about writing is tying off the umbilical cord. I’m such a perfectionist that I could rewrite until Jesus returns. I’ve had to teach myself to let go even when I don’t want to and put things in the hands of my editor. That’s what I did last night. I wrapped up the rough draft manuscript for The Circle Maker. Now it’s on to the first round of edits which will take 2-3 weeks.
For me, the process is writing is full of labor pains. There is nothing easy about it. I love writing, present tense, but not nearly as much as having written, past tense. We’re right around 55,000 words right now which makes this my longest book by a long shot. Super excited about the book. I’m also grateful for my new partnership with my new publisher, Zondervan.
