We started podcasting our weekend messages in July 2005. We simply upload them so that anyone with a computer or MP3 player can download them automatically. In August, the theaterchurch.com podcast had 6500+ visitors. I got an email testimony from one of those 6500 pod listeners that I wanted to share with you.

Dear Pastor Mark
I read about Theater Church from the New York Times’s article on churches and podcasting a couple weeks ago. It was through that article that I started subscribing to your podcast. I’m writing this email all the way from Singapore and I just wanted to thank Theater Church for even expanding their outreach outside of the US.
Your summer reflection series really spoke to me. After listening to that, I really heard and felt God telling me to
1. return to my burning bush experience to renew my love, dedication for Him. Incidentally, my burning bush experience was when I was at college in the US 11 years ago.
2. Throw down my identity and things that I hold on to for security.
This message came at a really apt time for me. I needed to re-anchor the things that God has placed in my life and I’ve just been so busy doing so much that I’ve not had time to stop and breathe. After listening to the series, I never felt more recharged. Even as I listened to the messages over my powerbook and typing out sermon notes, God’s presence was SO strong and He simply enveloped every corner of my room. That evening, God met me and I felt like an electric cord came by and gave me back my fervor and my ability to give. God’s just so awesome and I cannot imagine doing life without Him.
It’s extremely exciting to hear what God is doing with Theater Church 10,000miles away from where I am physically. I live half way around the world and yet it doesn’t sound like it’s that far away! Having heard what God is doing in the US, it has given me the extra push to do life better and serve Him even more fervently here at home.
Theater Church will certainly be in my prayers.
I think this email reveals the importance of redeeming technology to “go into all the world.” Never has a generation been so strategically positioned to fulfill the Great Co-Mission.
I think we need to make disciples by any and all means.
Podcasting is what I’d call digital discipleship.
