The Good News is Good News

I rarely post links. But I love the angle of this ad. I heard it will air during the American Idol Finale next week. Check it out.

If I’ve said this once I’ve said it a thousand times: the church should be more known for what we’re for than what we’re against. That’s why I love this ad. I know semantics play a huge role in how we frame things. It’s one thing to say someone is anti-abortion. It’s another thing to say someone is pro-life.

Here’s what I’m getting at. The good news is good news. It’s not a threat. It’s not a demand. It’s an unbelievable offer. Are there negative consequences if you fail to receive and believe the good news? Yes. But let’s not frame a positive as a negative. The gospel is not a double negative! Jesus didn’t come to condemn. Those who refuse to receive the gift he freely offers stand condemned. But that isn’t what Jesus came to do. Jesus came to save!

Keep it positive.
