That was random

Just had one of those make your day moments.

I was walking out of our coffeehouse and a woman yelled at me. Asked if I wrote the book in her hand. I said “yup.” She’s never been to Ebenezers and we’d never met. She was super excited about the book.

Long story short, she said she was reading through the One-Year Bible with her boyfriend and last night she read the story about Benaiah in II Samuel 23:20. She’d never heard it before. Then she walked into the coffeehouse and saw In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day on the shelf–a book on II Samuel 23:20. Then she saw me walking through the coffeehouse.

In the words of my son, Parker: “That was random.”

Such is the sovereigny of God.

Sovereignty seems random from our human vantage point, but there is an intricate and infinite design beyond human comprehension. Anytime something like this happens it reminds me of the prayer we prayed before In a Pit came off the press: God, help the book get into the right hands at the right time!
