Swimming in the Deep End

It’s no secret. I’m praying for nothing less than revival in DC.  Here’s a picture of the People’s Church from 1962–the church we purchased as our 7th location on Barracks Row and are turning into a 1930′s movie house.  I believe it’s literally a prophetic sign of what God wants to do in that place and in Washington, DC. It’s says: RevivalWe stand on the shoulders of those who have paid the prayer price.

One of the images that God has given me in recent weeks is from Ezekiel 47.  I’m praying for a rising tide that would lift all churches in and around DC.  We are far too satisfied with an ankle-deep or knee-deep or waist-deep move of God.  I’m praying that God would do something way over our heads so that we can’t touch the bottom of it.  After all, it’s not till you’re in over your head that God gets the glory.

Ezekiel 47 describes a river that flowed from the Temple.  At first it was ankle-deep, then knee-deep, then waist-deep.  Then it was so deep you couldn’t walk it it.  You had to swim it.  I want to swim in His glory, His grace, His power.  The deep end.

He measured off another 1,750 feet and the river was too deep to cross without swimming.  He told me to keep in mind what I had seen: then he led me back along the river bank.  Suddenly, to my surprise, many trees were now growing on both sides of the river!  Wherever this water flows, everything will live.

Lord, surprise us!
