Pinch Me

I flew out to Zondervan yesterday.  Great day talking about The Circle Maker which just released.  Also starting talking about topic and time line for the next book.  The big news? I’m going to slow down!  I was writing on a book-a-year cycle, but that takes some wear-and-tear.  I’m going to switch to an 18-month cycle.  One of my life goals is write 25 book.  I think I can still get there.

On the flight home I had a few “moments.”

First, I can’t believe I get to write. I still remember when I signed my first book contract with Multnomah for a four-book deal.  It was a “shock and awe” moment.  and I still feel the same way. So blessed to pursue two callings–pastoring and writing–simultaneously.  Sometimes it feels like two jobs, but I’m so grateful for a church that lets me do both.

Second, I write for intrinsic reasons!  Every author wants their book to become a bestseller, but that cannot be the motivation. Writing, for me, is an act of obedience. I certainly want The Circle Maker to influence the way people pray, but I feel like I’ve fulfilled my job.  Now it’s in God’s hands!
