This weekend we kick off a series titled Joy. We’re looking at the Christmas story and focusing in on the wise men. It says they were “overjoyed” when they found Jesus. Actually, I like the KJV on this one: “they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.”

It is so easy to lose the joy. We lose the joy of marriage. We lose the joy of parenting. We lose the joy of our job. And we lose the joy of our salvation. I’m hoping this series helps restore the joy.

We’re talking about three dimensions of joy: the joy of wonder, the joy of giving, and the joy of worship! This is what I would call a back to basic series. I think you can get too creative sometimes. In my experience, holidays are a great time to go back to basics.
