I’m All Ears

There is an old idiom: I’m all ears. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said it in the last week.  The challenge of restoring an old movie house and opening it as a functioning one-screen movie theater has put us right back at the bottom of the learning curve.  And it’s steep.  But that is where I like to live and lead: in the shadow of a steep learning curve. It forces you to learn.  And it forces you to listen!

That’s where we were before opening Ebenezer’s Coffeehouse. Not a single person on our team had ever worked at a coffeehouse until a year before we opened our doors.  We had to do a quick study.  We’re in the same place now.

So how do you take on a new challenge like this?  Listen.  We’re listening to the community. We’re listening to other theater operators.  We’re trying to learn the business, learn the language, learn the opportunity.

I’m listening. I’m learning. And I’m loving it.
