Finish Line

Almost a year ago, Parker and I signed a discipleship covenant. A physical challenge was part of the covenant. I wanted Parker to learn some good habits and good disciplines. And I felt like training for a triathlon would teach some valuable lessons. I also thought it would build his confidence. Awfully proud of my son. Pretty brave to swim half a mile in the ocean considering he’s never been on a swim team. And I think he’s the youngest person to run the triathlon considering they made an exception to allow him to run. He was several years younger than the minimum age.

Our goal was to run it in 1:30. Based on training, I felt like that was a difficult but doable goal. I think we crossed the finish line right around 1:31. But considering I limped for the 3.5 mile run that’s not bad. My strained calf definitely slowed us down, but I was grateful that I made it across the finish line. Really happy with times on the swim and bike.

Feels awfully good accomplishing a life goal.

I’ll post a few more pictures on facebook.
