I’m a huge facebook fan, but I have a situation.

I hit the friend limit about a month ago. And it feels a little weird even blogging about this, but here goes. When you hit the friend limit and people try to add you they get a message about already having too many friends. Here is where it gets a little complicated. Every once in a while someone will unfriend me. No offense taken! But during that short window between being unfriended and friending someone else, I’ll get lots of friend requests. Unfortunately, I can only add one friend. But I’ve accumulated 172 friend requests. So I feel like a heel.

All of that to say this: I’ve created a fan page to connect with readers.

Honestly, most of my friends are readers. So I consider them friends, but they know me better than I know them. I hate the word “fan.” So I’m thinking of it as more as a writer’s page. With some of the features that facebook added a week ago, I think it’ll enable me to connect with readers in the same way I connect with friends. I’ll even post things like speaking schedule so it’ll serve a purpose beyond my facebook page.
