Ethiopia: Day 2

A couple of things impacted me today. Uncle Betta and Pastor Zeb have contagious faith. God has given them an extra measure of faith. They aren’t just believing God for Addis or Ethiopia. They are believing God for the continent of Africa.

We stood on an amazing piece of property that the government is leasing to the church for ninety-nine years (no one owns land in Ethiopia). They have plans to build a 10,000 seat auditorium on the site. What God has already done is amazing. The church started with only 12 people and has been in existence only 8 years, but they’ve started over forty churches and serve tens of thousands of people each week! But they keep believing God for bigger things! So we stood on the property and planted seeds of prayer that I believe will be answered in the years to come. I can’t wait to see that dream become reality. Imagine: a 10,000 seat church in capital city of Ethiopia. Who would have thought? And we got to pray on the property before the ground is broken!

We also went to visit the building where Pastor Zeb will start an English-speaking church in Addis. The owner of the building is an anointed businessman who has an incredible heart for God. Uncle Betta told us that he spends his Wednesdays fasting and praying. He felt impressed by God to dedicate the top floor to ministry. And there will be a 24-hour prayer room on the lower level of the building. You can see the way God has blessed him. He started his first business with one birr–the U.S. equivalent of a quarter! I wish you could see the view from this building! Awe inspiring! It is one of the nicest and tallest buildings in Addis. It is a stone’s throw from the airport and you can see the mountains that surround the city. I had the same feeling as I stood on that floor as I had when I walked out of Union Station after signing our lease on the theater. God has strategically positioned them in the right place at the right time. I can’t wait to see what God does.
