Earth

Our family went to see a premier showing of Disney’s new film Earth. Huge thanks to my friends Corby Pons and Erik Lokksemoe for hooking us up with tickets. Three thumbs up! Such a unique perspective on our planet. Favorite moment? When Josiah said, “Dad, this movie has a lot of information about animals.” Priceless! And the cinematography is breath-taking. Loved the clips post-movie showing how they filmed some of the scenes.

Really cool to hear the directors, Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield, talk about the making of the movie. It took 5 years and they visited 42 countries. One fascinating factoid is the way they slowed down some of the predetation scenes, cheetah and shark and wolf, forty times to tone down how vicious it is. It really turned those scenes into something sad yet beautiful. I know that sounds strange, but you have to see it.

Earth hits the box office on Earth Day or April 22.
