Butterflies

I used to get butterflies in my stomach when I was in the locker room before a game. I get butterflies when I’m preaching in a new place. And I definitely have a herd of butterflies in my stomach today. In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day comes off the press tomorrow!

I have a serious mix of emotions. I feel like this book has been inside me for thirteen years. On one level, there is a sense of relief. I have felt called to write since Seminary so this gets a monkey off my back. I’m also trying to keep my expectations in check. I can’t control how the book sells and I know this book is the first of many. But the primary feeling is a sense of destiny.

I don’t have a jump up and down kind of excitement. I just can’t wait to see the way God uses the book for His purposes. I genuinely believe that God wants to raise up a generation of lion chasers. That’s what I’m excited about.

I can’t wait to get some copies in my hands so that I can give them to friends and neighbors I’m trying to share my faith with. I’m hoping the book helps them find Christ.
