Lora came up with a great idea as we were brainstorming for “summer ideas.” So Tuesdays are backwards day with the Battersons. The kids made dinner last night and Lora and I did the dishes. If it was really backwards day we should have had the kids tell us half a dozen times to “do our jobs” but we didn’t
The cutest part of the day was Parker reading a bedtime story out of Uncle Remus to Josiah. For what it’s worth, I think one key to parenting in particular and life in general is mixing up the routine. We become creatures of habit and those habits can cause us to just “go through the motions.” I think kids need traditions and routines to give their lives structure. But they also need non-routine things. That’s the spice of life.
