A Day Well Spent

Lora and I spent the day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. What a great organization! The president of Habitat DC, Kent Adcock, attends NCC. Such a privilege to be part of rebuilding Ivy City–a part of our city that desperately needs it. And one cool caveat is that we worked with the woman who will own the house once it’s built.

We actually worked on the same house as President Carter. Can’t believe he is 86 years young! I posted a picture of us on the work site on facebook. Lora and I also sat at his table for lunch. He told me that he taught Sunday School fourteen times while he was President. Love that. And I love that it was significant enough to him that he remembered it.

Anytime I serve others I feel always feel like it was a day well spent. I was pretty tired this morning. And it was a rainy, cold day. But I was so energized by the time the day was done! Serving others has a way of blessing us far more than the people we serve!
