I met with a couple groups of pastors and students today. Just thought I’d share a couple of my favorite quotes that always seem to come up in settings like that.

Oswald Chambers said, “Let God be as original with others as He was with you.” Such a great guiding principle. That is why I try to speak to leaders descriptively instead of prescriptively.

Every leader ought to have this Abraham Lincoln quote memorized: “You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.” So true!

For what it’s worth, I think every leader ought to have an arsenal of quotes that become guiding principles for their lives. And hopefully, some of our quotes become guiding principles for others!
